"The
effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." James 5:16
Prayer,
sometimes with some people, can be a formality, a habit, even a ritual, which,
at the least, makes it a disappointment to God, in my opinion. Think of
"lukewarm." God does not like lukewarm, Rev. 3:16.
The unfathomable
power of the verse above is not the easiest to comprehend, especially in the
KJV. Too many will casually read it to mean, "I am made righteous in
Christ and I can come boldly to the Throne of Grace so God will not only hear
but must answer my prayers.
Look it up
in a Greek-Hebrew Interlinear and you will find the meanings of the words could
read like…
"supplication
with passionate intensity from a blameless man produces the desired beneficial
effect."
We must enter into our prayers with seriousness of purpose not with a lackadaisical attitude… a fervency of spirit. And the Holy Spirit will help with our spiritual infirmities, Rom. 8:26. I'm talking about COMMUNION with God!
