REPENTANCE

…and He (Jesus) said to them (disciples), "Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day, and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.” Luke 24:46-48

This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: "In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength…” Isaiah 30:15

Godly sorrow worketh repentance. 2 Corinthians 7:10

Many think the word repent means “to become religious” or “to stop sinning”; or “to become righteous” …as if we could. Repentance requires a whole new point of view; looking at it God's way. God simply asks us to turn back to Him. This is the way we accept His gift.
So repent [change your inner self—your old way of thinking, regret past sins] and be converted [return to God—seek His purpose for your life], so that your sins may be wiped away [blotted out, completely erased], so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord [restoring you like a cool wind on a hot day] Acts 3:19 Amplified

But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God's wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. Romans 2:5

There must first be a conviction (NOT a “persuasion”) of a condemnation of sin, which subject could be an entire post unto itself. Then there must be an overwhelming desire to flee sorrowfully from sin. This is genuine spiritual mourning for the sin that separates us from THE Loving God, which can only be brought about by the Holy Spirit. He will give you a real sorrow and hatred for sin…the flesh will never produce this.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. John 3:6

True repentance will have a view of The Savior God The Son Christ Jesus, Yeshu’ ah. True repentance is not that which humbles us on any given Sunday, but for the rest of our life.

[Repentance is too choice a flower to grow in nature's garden.

Repentance makes us see the evil of sin, not merely as a theory, but experimentally-as a burnt child dreads fire. Each night we would close the day with painful confessions of shortcoming, and each morning awaken with anxious prayers, that this day God would hold us up that we may not sin against Him.

Every other sorrow yields to time, but this dear sorrow grows with our growth, and it is so sweet a bitter, that we thank God we are permitted to enjoy and to suffer it until we enter our eternal rest.] ~C.H. Spurgeon
