In the prior post, I point out that it is contrary to fundamental Christian beliefs and character to vote for a democrat. (I don't think everyone gets that… or WANTS to get it?) There is NO WAY I can be a part of or support a group that actively promotes, advances, endorses, encourages, helps, campaigns for, supports, advocates abortion and/or homosexuality. That is not only my perspective, but that is my faith, my firmly held conviction, … that's my stand. I loathe the democrat party. To me it is an antichrist. Do I make my point?
But now my title above asks, "Should a Christian be a republican?".
That is probably confusing some readers. Am I suggesting one should be an "independent"? Not at all. In the earlier post, I asked, "What is a liberal"? In this post I will concern myself with what is a conservative? What does it mean to support the Right? What does the Republican party stand for? Generally speaking, the Republican party follows a more conservative platform. The following summarizes the ideology of the Republican party (again, the short list)…
* These are the biggies
In the past, the Republican party has been (more or less) the party for the Christian. But let's not kid ourselves, or mesmerize ourselves into accepting the lesser of two evils in order to justify our vote. We don't NEED to vote… we need to PRAY! It doesn't matter, republican or democrat. They are all either satan's pawns or God's instruments. So, what I am suggesting (and I've suggested it before) is that Christians stay out of God's way, unless He is speaking directly to you to do something. If God would use His children as a political force, it would be obvious that all Christians would then vote alike, I don't care what part of the country one lives in. That's not difficult to accept is it? Would God tell me to vote republican and you democrat? Of course not. Why would you vote democrat? The powers that be are ordained of God, are they not? Rom. 13:1. Perhaps some should do a word study on "sovereign" as it applies to God, not only in our lives, but in all of creation.
Back in the 2008 primaries when all the candidates were still in the running for their party's nomination (I mean ALL of them, both parties), I was on my way to the poll to vote (primaries). As I was waiting for my wife to get ready, I was impressed with the importance of what I was about to do and also a dread as to the lateness of the hour (by God's "clock"). I was impressed by the fact that I had no clue as to what I was about to do. I had to ask myself, "how can I know"? I prayed. I was reminded of the apostles who needed to replace that one who was numbered among themselves but who was "lost to perdition"; how they prayed, "And they prayed, and said, You, Lord, Who knows the hearts of all men, show whether of these two You have chosen" Acts 1:24; and they cast lots to allow God to pick. So I wondered…and prayed.
I put all the names individually on a small piece of paper, folded it up real small, put them in a big stainless bowl, and shook the bowl. Immediately one seemed to bounce out of the bowl onto the floor. It was obama. Did God want obama as president? It was clear to me back then that He did. Did I vote for him as president? No. McCain? No. Did I vote for anyone? No. How could I? God didn't "order" me to vote for obama, He just showed me who He chose. So I had to back away. Do you get it?
Did it work out the way God intended? ALWAYS!!!
Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. Rom. 13:1-2
God appoints "authorities" for His purposes. Not my vote or yours. So if you vote for a Republican when God intends to raise a democrat (for judgement, no doubt) then you will find yourself VOTING AGAINST THE WILL OF GOD. Consider this… if the antichrist rises out of America, he will probably (as things stand now) be voted into power by what is being called the "low information" crowd. Is it possible a Christian might vote for him? I don't want any part of that.
