Kingdom of God; Kingdom of Heaven; Kingdom of the Lord; Everlasting Kingdom; Gospel of the Kingdom; Kingdom of Christ. Distinctions, distinctions, distinctions.
It is so much easier, as many have done, to disregard “distinctions” and just say. “They’re all the same thing.” You go ahead and say that... the Bible makes distinctions; and then I have to find out what they mean!Draw yourself one real big circle (on paper or in your mind). THAT is the Kingdom of God. It
includes, encompasses and has dominion over everything about everything. Within that circle (the Kingdom of God) is the Kingdom of Heaven. That Kingdom has Jesus as King and Lord... again, within the Kingdom of God.
The Kingdom of Heaven was presented to Israel by Jesus during His earthly ministry. He presented Himself as their God (Jehovah) and their King. They rejected it and crucified their King. At Jesus’ resurrection, He ascended to Heaven and the Kingdom went with Him. He now waits for the time of His second coming at God’s will. The kingdom of Heaven is intended to be on Earth... earthly but is currently waiting for the “times of the Gentiles” to be fulfilled, Luke 21:22-24; Daniel 9:26-27; Romans 11:25.
Reference to “the full number of the Gentiles” in Rom. 11:25 is made of the Body of Christ which is heavenly but here on Earth until the taking away... Rapture. The calling out of the Gentiles into the Body of Christ was a mystery hidden in God and revealed to the Apostle Paul. Jesus tried to reveal it to Peter but he resisted. He would not go to Cornelius’ house because he was a Gentile, Acts 10... much the same way that Jonah would not go to Nineveh (Book of Jonah) because they were Gentiles. God had His way though. Paul is the Apostle to the Gentiles and the first in the Body of Christ, 1 Tim. 1:15-16. As Moses was the first Jew called out of Egypt, so is Paul the first Gentile called into the Body of Christ.
There are two more very important
distinctions...
the Gospel of the Kingdom, and the Gospel of Grace. That is
easy enough for me to understand... the Gospel of the Kingdom is what Jesus
presented to the Jews (circumcision) under the Law. It was an important part of
prophecy concerning the Jews, Jesus, and the Kingdom. The Gospel of Grace is
what Paul preached to the “uncircumcision” (Gentiles) Gal. 2:7-9)
The Kingdom of Heaven will come to Earth with Jesus after the tribulation which will not begin until the Body of Christ and the Holy Spirit are taken up to Heaven. One does not need to be a scholar of the Kingdom of God... one needs to be a citizen!
