Beloved... it was necessary
for me to write unto you, and exhort you that you should earnestly contend for
the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. Jude 1:3
Is it possible in so-called “religion” to come to one accord? Even the question raises controversy. Some would say “Yes” and others would say “No.” I wonder if we, believers, could even agree that the Word of God has no controversy? That would be a good place to start.
God, Christ, The Holy Spirit, Jesus. Can any believer
offer a basic definition AND understanding of these most
important subjects of scripture that we could all agree on? I will stop there
and presume, suggest, and conclude... NO!
And yet, what Bible study are we
attending in order to LEARN about this?
Controversy generates many questions... at least for those who WANT to learn.
One stumbling block to learning is not having qualified teachers, who themselves had to persevere beyond the controversies of disagreements. Another stumbling block is not wanting to know anything beyond the basic salvation message because then come great responsibilities. It’s called complacency. We are ALL guilty of that... some more so than others. Complacency would deny the concept of “Good, Better, Best” and settle for “Good Enough.” Complacency is “defiance” to the Will of God. Defiance is a poor student. Denial is a poor teacher. If we deny our “complacency” we will never be able to correct it. “Woe unto us.” Even that admonition is rejected. More controversy.
The answer to the first question... “Is it possible in so-called “religion” to come to one accord?” ...is NO! I define “religion” as a belief SYSTEM in something other than the One True God, and Savior Jesus the Christ, and the Faith, once given . The object of worship in “religion” could be “yourself” or a cow, or even satan. How could anyone come to one agreement in any of that?
The answer to the second question... “Can we, believers, even agree that the Word of God has no controversy?” is... WE BETTER!
For some people, this Christmas season brings with it, once
again, many controversies about the season itself, and religion, the government’s
role in it, the commercialism, and even Christianity itself. But for true born-again believers, this
should be one time when we all agree that...
“Unto us
a child WAS born, and unto us a Son IS given...
“And He will be called the Son of the Most High
God”
