Inane Things

Yeah... that word nails it for me. It means, “lacking significance, meaning, or point: silly, empty, insubstantial; devoid of qualities that make for spirit and character, a lack of any significant or convincing quality.” ~Merriam-Webster

Inane things... the conversation of the world.

I don’t like to talk about
inane things (I shouldn’t). Oh, I do on occasion because of circumstance or present company, as we all do. But excess suppresses pearls of wisdom. Shouldn’t children of God speak about the things of God to themselves and each other? What does scripture say... “the speech of a fool comes with many words” Eccl. 5:3... and “Speak truth to one another, render true and sound judgments” Zech. 8:16

The world doesn’t know God. Many “professing christians” don’t know God. I’m not judging, but there is very strong evidence for that “opinion.” The world’s conversations are I N A N E ! (see definition above)

The Bible speaks about MANY things, but it is consistently repetitious about God, Creation, Fall, Redemption, Faith, Hope, Love, Law, and Grace. Should we not first perfect and master our understanding of these things rather than the weather, or cooking, or fishing, or P O L I T I C S, or celebrities ???

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy is understanding." Prov. 9:10

Many, many people “know” the first part of that verse. Many don’t understand it, but they have heard of it. The second part is even more profound... “knowledge of the Holy (One).” As I have said before, “we do not understand the Godhead as presented and REVEALED to us in His Word.”

Consider that our “religion” is so fractured as to be grossly ineffective. There are between 30,000 and 45,000 denominations globally (depending on how one defines “denomination”). Which ONE denomination within that group has and is adhering to God’s will for the Church? ...Not one, No, not one!
[No single religion goes strictly by the Bible in its entirety, as different religions have different interpretations and additions to their doctrines, but Christian fundamentalism and the Church of Christ denomination are notable for their emphasis on biblical literalism and their rejection of outside doctrines or creeds. However, it's important to remember that even within these groups, interpretations can differ, and no religion claims to follow the Bible literally and completely without any interpretation or additions.] ~internet opinion

My predisposition is for the way I want things to be. That’s the carnal man in me. That’s a BIG reason why we, all of us, don’t get along (perfect families excepted). Scripture says, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Rom. 12:2

Renewing my mind was a profound change. Renewing the mind involves immersing oneself in Scripture, prayer, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, aligning one's thoughts with God's truth as seen in Eph. 4:22-24. This is the “perfection” of spiritual maturity.

I have said many times to many people (none of whom want to hear it) that the church has problems. How ambiguous is that? We won’t get into that now. My bigger point is... I just recently realized what the MAIN problem in our churches is – We Don’t Want To Fix The Problems !!! Complacency is so comfortable and safe. The curse of the status quo. “Hey you, there’s no curse on the church of God!” No there isn’t, but there is a curse on carnal man, and I are one. This body is at war with the Spirit of God within me.

Rom. 7:22-23 says, “I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind.” The carnal mind is at war against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. But those who live according to the Spirit, set their minds on the things of the Spirit. “To be spiritually minded is life and peace” Rom. 8:6.  But “If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His” Rom. 8:9
