But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Matt. 24:37
So, the second coming of Jesus the
Christ will be preceded by a reappearance of events in society as occurred in
the days of Noah before the Flood. What kind of “events?” Well, #1, Gen. 6:5...
“The wickedness of man was great in the earth, and
that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”
Today is truly as it was in the days of Noah... and then it was wiped out!
Have you seen any of the news
today?
What is meant by “as it was in the
days of Noah”? Well, besides being corrupt, #2, the whole Earth was “filled with
violence” and #3, man’s thoughts of his heart was ONLY evil continually. We won’t
understand that of today’s world because we will rationalize it by saying we
are not that bad... I am not that bad. We might be that blind though!
And then Jesus described those
days as “They were eating and drinking and marrying
and being given in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and the
flood came and destroyed them all” Luke 17:26–27.
Jesus was pointing out that, although the people of Noah’s day were totally depraved, #4, they were not the least bit concerned about it. They were carrying on the events of their lives without a single thought of God or judgement. I’m reminded of the TV saying, “Tomorrow... same time, same channel.” We plan schedules weeks in advance with not a thought to “If God wills” because we don’t consider God. Some do... on Sundays, and then He is forgotten... scheduled for the following Sunday.
Noah spent years warning his
friends and neighbors what God was about to do. #5, No one listened. God's
righteous judgment upon those who persist in rebellion against Him is inevitable...
as in the days of Noah.
