MERRY CHRISTMAS - Part 1

Christmas is a holiday that has an effect on the entire world. It is shared and celebrated by many nations and cultures.

The "spirit" of Christmas causes people to decorate their homes and churches, cut down trees and bring them into their homes, decorating them with silver and gold, ornaments and lights. In the light of that tree, families "make merry" and give gifts one to another. On December 24th (Christmas eve), families and churches prepare for participation in customs such as burning the Yule log, singing around the decorated tree, kissing under the mistletoe, and attending a late night service or midnight mass. For many people, it is a favorite time of the year involving gift giving, parties and feasting. Christmas is a holiday that seems to display a "ceremonial" unity among almost all of professing Christendom.

What is the meaning of Christmas? Where did the customs and traditions originate? We, as Christians, would want to worship the Lord in Spirit and in truth, Jn 4:23-24; discerning good from evil, Heb. 5:14. In fact, true worshipers MUST worship in Spirit and in truth. And, having DISCERNED the evil... keep away from it! The truth is that all of the customs of Christmas pre-date the birth of Jesus Christ, and a study of this would reveal that Christmas in our day is a collection of traditions and practices taken from many cultures and nations… all of them pagan and idolatrous.

Can Christ be honored by Christmas?
I have heard many say that they are “honoring Christ” or "celebrating His birth" in their Christmas-keeping. The problem is that nowhere do I find in His Word even a suggestion to celebrate Jesus' birth.
I do not believe Christmas is acceptable to God. In fact, I believe we have clear commandments against it. Keeping Christmas dishonors Christ! Everything about it is an abomination! We will soon see why.

Christ said, But in vain they do worship Me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. Matt. 15:9.

And in verse 8 we read, This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

Now here is what I see in that verse (8). We can "sing" (mouth) all the carols and hymns we want… and it looks good and sounds great… and we can express (lips) all the holiday wishes to everyone we meet all day long for a demonstration of brotherly love. And we justify ourselves by declaring, "our hearts ARE in it". But you don't understand… our hearts should NOT be in this dishonoring holiday. It's as simple as that.

True Christians should have NO part in this abominable "carnival".

Christmas is not a command of God, it is a debauched tradition of men. Jesus said, Full well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your own tradition. Mark 7:9.
Every year, throughout the world, on December 25th, hundreds of millions do just that! God plainly commands, Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen. Jer. 10:2.
But most people do not fear God. They do whatever they want. They make their own decisions, and He allows them. Human beings are free moral agents… free to obey or disobey God! But woe to those who ignore the plain Word of God… believers and unbelievers!
Many are concerned about putting “Christ back into Christmas”. The real Jesus Christ was never in and never will be in Christmas! But there is another problem with the idea of “putting Christ back in Christmas” and it is a big problem! The “Jesus” that is the focus of this season is not the true Jesus Christ of the Bible!

But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. 2 Cor 11:3-4.

The point is, many speak of “putting Christ back into Christmas”. This is heard every year from thousands of pulpits and elsewhere. But the true Christ was never there! Jesus Christ cannot be “put back” into an event that He has never been in, and that He, in fact, hates! The Jesus that these preachers and religionists have in mind is another Jesus, one with another gospel, another spirit… the Christmas spirit!… bringing totally different doctrines and teachings. Christmas is a bunch of lies. One of them being Santa. Or is that an anagram for Satan?

CHRISTMAS Part 2 next time... Peace,
